Floorwork and acrobatics

This class is for anyone who would like to move around on the floor in different ways, crawling, rolling, sliding, jumping, cartwheeling, and eventually flipping. It offers whole body development and awareness. We will also play quite a few partner and group games. These playful methods can develop your ability to move freely and find more flow in movement.

- Learn how to roll and fall safely
- How to get up and down from the floor
- Beginner acrobatic elements
- Introduction to acrobatic strength and mobility
- Games and scenario based practice
- Free improvisation using these elements

About the teachers

James

"I’ve been fascinated by physicality since I can remember. Through spending many years training in different modalities, strength training, dance, Olympic weightlifting, sprinting, some martial arts, I learnt much about how the body works and how to change things in the body.

Through various injuries I delved deeper into rehab, physical therapy and this lead me to massage and bodywork practice. I trained in the UK in sports and clinical massage, also training in traditional Thai massage in Thailand and being exposed to many other modalities of bodywork.

I use many tools to achieve whatever result I’m looking for. Including shamanic rituals and practice within the context of therapy. I specialise in dealing with chronic pain, trauma, rehab, and generally making the body work better and feeling better in it.

I don’t believe there is only one way to do anything. I mix styles and traditions to create something that works for me and for my clients.

I want to feel good in my body, the vehicle through which I experience the world, and to facilitate this experience with others."

Nil

Currently living in Munich and making a living out of teaching people how to engage in a joyful, fulfilling and long-lasting movement practice. One of his biggest passions is to explore the endless shapes and sizes of the physical. Doing so, he studied Sports Science in Munich, learned from the best in their field and spent hours researching using all kinds of sources of information. I look at movement in a very general way and get inspired from many disciplines - among others: Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Acrobatics, Dance, Climbing, Parkour and other athletic fields.

The focus of his teachings is to find ways to make seemingly difficult movements accessible for all sorts of practitioners. When he teaches acrobatic-like elements to adults in my seminars, he makes sure to choose methods and modalities that allow understanding of each movement.
